What We Offer

The word = HOMOZYGOUS; now that is a mouthful. Well, according to Webster's Dictionary, it is "ho-mo-zy-gous \-zi-gas\ adj (1902) : having the two genes at corresponding loci on homologous chromesomes identical for one or more loci".

What does this really mean? For a miniature horse afflicted with this problem, it means that the afflicted horse can only produce pinto offspring. Obviously a problem that is easily ignored! Which brings us to our "herd sire" (for want of a better description), HCM WAR PAINT'S MASQUERADE.

Masquerade is a black Tobiano that has been tested homozygous by the UC-Davis laboratory. Masquerade, to date, has only produced pinto offspring, and can't produce anything else. If mated to a homozygous mare, they will produce a homozygous offspring.

We have a few of Masquerade's get (fillies and colts) for sale, Give us a call. We also stand Masquerade to a few outside mares each year, but the spots (no pun intended) go fast.

Notwithstanding the pintos produced by Masquerade, we have other studs that produce pintos and solids. We have just about anything you might want in a miniature horse. Give us a call!
